Double Barrel

Double Barrel is a show that was meant to showcase two main installations that I had in mind for quite sometime. “The Worm” and “The Human Anatomy”. The Worm was conceived after a good friend Katie Rose came to inquire about a possible Mural opportunity for me at her place of employment. Original concept was a Worm mural designed to fit a wall 3 stories high and width of a block. Luckily, the proposal was met with a tumbling tumble weed. I didn’t want to banish The Worm, so I proposed it to Space 1026 in Philadelphia, due to the gallery layout is perfect for this installation. The wall is 35 ft x 10ft. Without Katie’s approach, “The Worm” would have never been born.

The Human Anatomy is inspired by The Body World exhibition that I saw in 2006, in Philadelphia. On the left is a woman with her organs exposed, and on the right is a man with his skeletal system exposed.

Back in November 2012, I started to make these paintings in Gouche. I have never been to Pacific Northwest, but I have seen many pictures, videos, and heard descriptions of that part of the U.S.A..
These four paintings are subconsciously and consciously about Pacific Northwest from me, a person who has never been there.

“Timing Belt” 24″ x 36″ approximately.

“Butter Hawk” 24″ x 36″ approximately. A punk’s Butter Hawk melts under the Sun.

“Self Pong” 24″ x 36″ approximately. Playing PingPong with myself. A lonely game only cats understand.

“A Pacific Tickle” 24″ x 36″ approximately. Does Alaska have Pink Sky like how we have it in Baltimore?

“Double Barrel” 10″ x 12″ approximately.
